Frequently asked questions about car accident cases

At PMR Law, we have heard from many people involved in car accidents. They simply have questions about car accident claims, and what we can do to help. We wanted to take a few moments to address some of the frequently asked questions that we have received, and tell you more about our role in the process.

How long will my claim take?

This is, understandably, one of the most frequent questions that we hear at the firm. You want to know what sort of time frame that you are going to have to deal with as your claim goes through the process.

As you can guess, there are many different factors that will influence the amount of time it takes for your auto accident case to resolve. Some may take longer than others, and it really will depend upon all of the issues that need to be addressed as part of the claim. We cannot give you a precise answer until we have had an opportunity to analyze your specific situation.Even though we are unable to tell you exactly how long things will take, know that we are focused on resolving things as efficiently as possible. We are negotiating with the other parties involved, and pursuing a settlement that meets the strategy that you have developed with our lawyers. If an agreement cannot be reached, our attorneys have a record of successful Texas jury trials. We will take your case to court if it is best for you.

How much does it cost to hire an attorney for an accident claim?

This is also something that most people want to know pretty early in the process. For personal injury cases, you will not be responsible for upfront costs in your case. There are no attorneys’ fees for our services unless we are able to recover compensation for you. There is no charge for your initial consultation, and no risk to talk to us about your claim. We receive a portion of the funds that we are able to recover on your behalf. We will discuss this with you in greater detail when you meet with us.

What happens if I am in an accident with a motorist who is under-insured or uninsured?

While Texas does require motorists to have insurance, not every driver is going to follow these rules. In the event that you are injured in a crash with a driver who lacks or does not have sufficient insurance, it is possible that your own insurance company may be responsible for some of the expenses that you have incurred. We will review your policy to determine what options are available to us after your crash.
